Founder, Googie Publishing | Creator, Story Artist & Writer
For Angela "Angie" Young, storytelling
has never simply been something she does. It is how she sees the
world.
Angie began telling stories as a little girl. In the early
1970s, she started adding cartoons to those stories, awakening
the story artist within her. A cousin who worked for a Silicon
Valley high-tech company recognized her talent and encouraged
her creativity by giving her stacks of dot-matrix computer paper
to draw and write on.
Those endless sheets of paper became a canvas for Angie's
imagination—and eventually gave birth to her first comic book,
Body Town.
Filled with fantastical worlds, whimsical characters, silly
science and space travel, Body Town offered Angie an escape into
a wonderfully zany universe of her own creation. It was an early
glimpse of the imaginative storyteller she would become.
From Storyteller to Published CreativeAs an adult, Angie—now married to Ken Young—built a diverse creative and professional background spanning science, fine art, journalism, television, publishing and editorial leadership. Her journalism career included writing a wide range of articles for Silicon Valley's bilingual newspaper La Oferta Review and the South Valley News Group. She also co-wrote scripts for The Informed Viewer television talk show and covered the fine-art world for Plein Air Magazine and Out & About Magazine. Angie's experience expanded further when Open Studios in Silicon Valley selected her to lead its online art magazine, In The Studio, as managing editor. She built the publication from the ground up, assembled its editorial team, and hired and trained writers and a copy editor during her year at the helm. |
Where Imagination Takes OverThrough every chapter of her career, one creative passion continued calling her back: drawing imaginative characters and telling visual stories.Whether her characters are navigating high-stakes adventures, strange worlds or wonderfully silly situations, Angie naturally thinks in scenes, panels and sequences. Storyboarding and comics are more than artistic formats to her. Sequential art is Angie's native tongue. She sees the world almost as an immersive comic book—alive with characters, movement, humor, possibilities and stories waiting to be told. For Angie, creating comics is more than a creative pursuit. It is part of her destiny: to enrich the world through humor, imagination, zany adventures and unforgettable storytelling. |
Eventually, one question
became impossible to ignore: Why not build an entire creative
enterprise around the things she has loved all her life?
Comic books. Graphic novels. Illustrated nonfiction. Fiction.
Games. Art. Characters. Stories.
The answer was Googie Publishing.
Founded in 2026, Googie Publishing brings Angie's lifelong
passion for storytelling into one creative home—a place where
imagination can roam freely and where original stories,
characters and ideas can find their audience.
AND IN TRUE ANGIE FASHION ...
THIS IS ONLY THE BEGINNING.
